Draw the Line » What do you say to your kid?

It seems like every time I turn around, there is another parent who says they’ll let the kids drink at their house because “they’re gonna do it anyway and it’s safer here.” My parents never would have agreed to something like that! What is it about our generation that thinks we are better off doing this for our kids?

What do you say when your kid claims that a friend’s parent will allow it, but you don’t agree?

Well, to start with, it is against the law! Unless the use of alcohol is part of an accepted religious event (communion) it is against the law. As parents, we have to be prepared to answer these types of questions. Just becasue one parent allows some sort of activty, doesn't mean that it is right or even acceptable. We can all think of parents who abuse their children, or involve them in criminal activity, thefts burglaries, the use of drugs...just becasue those parents allow it does it make it right? No. So as parents we must take a firm stance - Draw the Line!
